A Second Chance

Firstly, I would like to wish the Injured Jockeys’ Trust a happy birthday and congratulate the trustees who have been involved with the Trust down through the years on the successful implementation of plans to provide such a successful support network for jockeys’..

Paul Callaghan

My name is Paul Callaghan, a 39 year old former national hunt jockey from county Meath and I have recently been hired as an assistant store manager for Harvey Norman.

From as far back as I can remember, as in – before I started primary school, all I ever wanted to become was a national hunt jockey……..

Eddie Creighton

Irish Jockey Eddie Creighton has sustained a terrible fall while riding at Warrnambool in Australia.

We’d like to wish Irish Jockey Eddie Creighton the best in his recovery from an induced coma. We understand that he was conscious after the fall but that his condition deteriorated at Warrnambool Base Hospital and he has been transferred to Melbourne for further treatment.

When I decided to reach out to the Irish Jockey Trust for help with my career path I was not sure what to expect. I was just hoping for some guidance but they certainly exceeded my expectations.  They were so attentative and dedicated in helping me, especially in fine tuning my CV and looking for job opportunities I could not see for myself. I am now 6 months in my new role in an equine hospital and couldn’t be happier with these new opportunities,Thanks to the Jockey Trust.
